Tooth Infections Require Urgent Attention

The infection can spread to other teeth, jaw, and into your sinuses. If you have facial swelling, tooth/gum pain, contact Waban Dental Group. We accept new patients and offer dental emergency care.

What Is A Root Canal Treatment?

The idea of oral surgery can be scary, especially when your mouth is already hurting. We use precision instruments and a variety of anesthetics to make a root canal completely painless. By the time you leave our office, you will be feeling better. Recovery is quick.

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontics, is a simple outpatient procedure. It only takes a few hours of your time. You can go back to work the next day. You will receive numbing agents and anesthetics that will make your entire appointment painless.

In brief, the dentist will drill a small hole into your tooth and remove all of the infection as well as the damaged tooth pulp and nerve. Your tooth is then sealed and further strengthened with a crown. Overall, eliminating the infection is highly recommended to protect your oral health.

How To Prevent Tooth Infections

Many tooth infections are caused by poor dental hygiene. For this reason, we recommend brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing daily. You should also maintain your routine dental exams and cleanings. These preventive dental procedures detect issues early on. Furthermore,  cleanings remove plaque and tartar buildup which are known to cause decay, infection, and gum disease.

Eat a healthy diet by avoiding sugary and acidic foods and beverages. Poor diets are known to tooth enamel erosion and more buildup of plaque and tartar. Lastly, drink plenty of water as it naturally flushes harmful bacteria away from your teeth and gums.
